Express entry

Skilled workers can apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system. The Express Entry program is the fastest and most popular way for newcomers to settle in Canada. The Express Entry system organizes and processes applications for immigrants seeking permanent residence in Canada. As a skilled worker, you must meet the following requirements:

Have worked full-time (or equivalent part-time) in a skilled occupation for at least one year, in the past 10 years

The ability to demonstrate a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in either English or French on an approved language test

Post-secondary education completed in accordance with Canadian standards evaluated by an Educational Credential Assessment

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee you will receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence. Those with stronger profiles will always be chosen over those who simply meet the minimum requirements.
Express Entry manages applications for three types of economic immigration:

Federal Skilled Worker Program

Federal Skilled Trades Program

Canadian Experience Class

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows provinces and territories to recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool to meet local labour market needs.
